Todd Bertka and Will Smith recently received recognition for completing the first City of VB Innovation Academy. As part of their course work, Todd and Will attended the Annual TLG, Transforming Local Government Conference in Tulsa last month. And received their certificates from City Manager Hansen last week.
The MarComm team recently hosted the Simpleview team for “boots on the ground” look at our destination. From riding beach cruisers the entire length of the boardwalk (and back, of course!) to taking an oyster farm tour, this immersion experience served to give our new website vendor a closer look our coastal city. Special thanks to the VBCC team members who assisted in providing the VBCC bus and a driver; the tour went smoothly thanks to the amazing transportation experience. The Simpleview team left very impressed and much more familiar with look and feel of Virginia Beach.
MarComm teammates Asia White and Teresa Diaz represented the CVB last week at the 2017 Hospitality Expo at the convention center, sharing what we do and why we do it to all who stopped by their table.
Sponsored in part by the Hotel and Restaurant Associations, more than 140 local and regional vendors were on site and the day was filled with networking, education, customer service training, contests, and a silent auction. Great job, ladies!

Christmas Eve morning was extra special this year for thousands of military families who joyfully celebrated the homecoming of loved ones returning from deployment overseas. The CVB participated in a pier-side homecoming event by donating more than 40 dozen donuts and 300 branded Koozies to the troops and their families. This event was organized by the Mid-Atlantic Morale, Welfare and Recreation office at JEB Little Creek – Fort Story who reached out to regional businesses and industries for support. Along with the donuts and Koozies, hundreds of Virginia Beach attraction guides were distributed to the families as a way to share ideas of how the reunited families could spend time reconnecting while having fun in Virginia Beach. This sponsorship was part of the CVB’s ongoing tourism advocacy efforts. A link to the photo gallery of the event may be found here:
