The CVB is working closely with Allegiant Airlines to collaborate on marketing initiatives to raise awareness of new, direct in-bound flights from key target markets of Cincinnati and Cleveland for Summer 2019.
Earlier this week Allegiant Airlines announced twice-weekly service to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport from Norfolk International beginning June 7. Allegiant said the new routes will bring an anticipated 4,000 passengers to Hampton Roads and the Outer Banks annually. The distance between destinations is a significant factor in choosing to enter a market; Cincinnati is about a 600-mile drive to Virginia Beach — a distance that is a tipping point at which many people would rather fly. Allegiant began flying from Norfolk in October 2017.
