See What’s Happening at the VIC!

  • The VIC staff along with a few CVB staff recently went on a walking tour of the ViBe District.  They saw all the new murals featured on the new and easy one-mile walking tour for the ViBe District.  They learned a lot and was an educational experience for everyone.

  • Another news…  Peggy Breslin from our Chesapeake Bay Center at First Landing State Park received from the Virginia State Parks the “Focus of Excellence” certificate.  She was recognized for her excellent customer service skills  and contribution to the success of Virginia State Parks.  Congratulations to Peggy for this well-deserved recognition!

TOWNE BANK BUILDING MUST DISCONTINUE USE OF UNGERBOCK BY 10/10/17

Please be aware that we must discontinue our use of Ungerboeck at the TOWNE BANK BUILDING by the close of business on 10/10/17.

Our EBMS data will be delivered to Simpleivew by 9am EST on 10/11/17.

This will give them ample time to complete the final data import prior to our on-site training scheduled to take place during the week of 10/16/17.

I’m counting on you to spread the word.

Congratulations, Maria!

Please join the Tourism Team in Congratulating Maria Aragon on winning the Public Service Award at the 2017 National Hospitality Awards Luncheon.  The award appropriately reflects the endless hours you have dedicated to your job and the quality of work delivered.  Your attention to detail and communication skills are to be commended!

A member of our CVB family needs our help!

VIC Assistant, Shellie Shallis (pictured: right), lives in Windsor Woods and was forced from her home by the devastating impacts of Hurricane Matthew. She is currently living in her family camper with 5 other adults who were also impacted, where they are only able to use the bathroom in the house for showers. Thankfully, Shellie has flood insurance so the house is being repaired, but restoration is expected to take 2-4 months.

For food, Shellie uses an outside grill and is forced to stop at the grocery store every other day since she has no storage space.

What can we do to help?

What: Donations of Food and Cash will be accepted for Shellie and her family

  • Canned Fruit and Vegetables (low sodium)
  • Mac and cheese, soups, noodles and other non-perishables
  • Bottled water (16oz. and gallon)
  • Gift Cards (Kroger, Harris Teeter, Food Lion)
  • Cash

Where: Donations can be given to Brande Rumpf, in the Town Bank Building, or Scott Warren, in the Visitor Information Center
When:  Tuesday, October 25 – Friday, November 11
