Happy Halloween from the Culture Team!

You’ve been BOO’d by the CVB Culture Team!

The team worked hard to pack over 150 Halloween goodies bags for the CVB and VBCC staff members. They also included treats for the boys and girls of Commonwealth Challenge Youth Academy, an alternative education program providing values, skills, and self-discipline to teens in Virginia. Many of these cadets are often seen assisting with large setups and room flips around the VBCC!

2020 Census Complete Count Committee

The 2020 Census Complete Count Committee serves as a local “census ambassador” group that plays an integral part in ensuring a complete and accurate count of the Virginia Beach community in the 2020 Census. Kelsey is on the 2020 Census Media/Communications Subcommittee working to develop a marketing strategy to encourage 100% census participation. This is a city department-wide committee and we are happy to have Kelsey from the MarComm team selected for this important task!

Fall NYC Media Desksides Generate Immediate Coverage

PR Director Erin Goldmeier recently went to New York City to meet with 10 editors, writers and influencers to promote Virginia Beach. As a result, secured immediate placement in Facilities and Destinations Magazine, a social media takeover opportunity on Instagram with @tripsavvy, and interest from three outlets to visit Virginia Beach on individual FAMs.  Congrats Erin!

2020-2021 Destination LookBook Cover Sneak Peek

Graphic designer Lauren Thorstensen and Content Manager John Mayer are excited to reveal the new lookbook in just a few weeks! Here’s Lauren providing you a sneak peek of the new cover.

What do visitors have to say about the lookbook? Here are the responses from out-of-market consumer research focus group testing:

“This was very useful. I’ve been to Virginia Beach before and I didn’t know there was this much to get into.”

“This shows me I was too narrowly focused in my opinions of Virginia Beach. I was thinking of the city by the name, yet this addresses the whole coast.”

“The pictures were great. The images did a great job of standing out. The people featured in the ads didn’t look like actors, but actual visitors.”

“After seeing this I would consider visiting again, but to a different district. I would love to check out the hiking!”

“I like the Lookbook. It has been about the only thing that has made me think I should check out Virginia Beach, because it has some stuff North Carolina and South Carolina beaches don’t.”

“Much different feel than then in the ads or the radio ad. It’s a nice, comprehensive guide that makes me what to go.”
