Virginia Beach CVB attendees MPIKC Educational Conference – April 10, 2018
Virginia Beach CVB Meetings and Conventions team member Lisa MacArthur traveled to Kansas April 9-11, 2018. During that trip she attended Meeting Professionals International Kansas Chapter Educational Event on April 10, 2018 in Lenexa, KS.
The day was spend learning, networking, and receiving updates from industry partners like American Airlines, Maritz, Visit Kansas City, and more. 
M&C Team Sponsors Destination Presentation at Experient Envision!
The M&C Team recently attended and sponsored a “Destination Showcase” at the annual Experient Envision partner event in Detroit.
Todd and Lisa made a presentation to 45 National Experient planners and sourcing agents in addition to having nearly 40 individual appointments during the 3-day conference.
The new perspective message was well received as well as the chance to win a VB Beach Cruiser!
CVB Sales Team and Partners in DC
The M&C Team and Hotel Partners recently traveled to Washington D.C to make a Destination Presentation to the DC Office of Experient, Inc.,
VBCVB team and partners Coleen Briley, PHR Hilton Oceanfront and Kim Law, Holiday Inn N. Beach provided a “lunch and learn” for about 15 account managers and placement reps. The DC Experient office manages hundreds of meetings annually!
New Convention Sales Intern for Spring 2018
Please welcome Brooke Gillikin who recently started her internship with the Convention Sales division! Brooke is a rising senior at Old Dominion University majoring in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Studies with a minor in Business Administration. She has taken a hiatus from work to pursue this internship and her passion for the hospitality industry.
Tallwood High Site Visit
Students from the Tallwood Global Studies & World Languages Academy stopped by the Virginia Beach Convention Center on Thursday. They took a tour, learned about convention center operations and the careers available in the hospitality industry. They were able to tour the facility and see the Collie Club National Specialty Show in action.
The VBCC Hosts Cute Visitors This Week
The Virginia Beach Convention Center hosts the 2018 National Specialty Dog Show Hosted by Collie Club of America from March 28th, 2018- March 31st, 2018!
Tourism on the Road…
Tourism recently attended The Pennsylvania Bus Assn and Maryland Motorcoach Assn Group Leader show in York PA. Over 1,000 group leaders were in attendance.

While Mike Eason (left) was enjoying a round of golf in Florida, he ran into George Efstathiou, FAIA RIBA, (center) the managing partner of SOM, lead architects of Virginia Beach Convention Center. George was largely responsible for VBCC’s project as well as a number of world-renowned projects in the Middle East, most notably Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest structure pictured below.
