M&C Represents in St. Louis!
Ever attempting to promote the “Brand” M & C took the opportunity to promote the Bike and Bell campaign at PCMA’s Annual Education Conference in St. Louis this week. While the team couldn’t be there VB sponsored the room keys and incorporated a call to action URL to drive traffic to our website!
PCMA is attended by more than 500 meeting planners each year! The keycards give us one more opportunity to make an impression for VB!

French Canadian Travel Writer visits VB
After Kelli Norman and Jacinthe Pare visited Travel Writer Benoit Legault in his home town of Montreal and pitched the incredible assets of the destination, they convinced writer Benoit Legault to visit Virginia Beach. Legault, on assignment to write a story for a large Montreal Newspaper, spent the last 3 days here exploring the destination and much to his surprise, was thrilled to learn of the diverse amount of activities and commented on how the three beaches experience was truly unique and exactly what Canadians would enjoy. Legault’s trips in between VB include the Dominican Republic and Mexico. We are looking forward to Legault’s articles in several Montreal publications. Also, there are 2 additional French Canadian travel writers visiting VB in the month of June 2016.
Office of Volunteer Resources has a ball representing VB in Minnesota
When a team representing Virginia Beach on a national stage called looking for fun props to use during a conference presentation, the CVB had just the thing – a few of our giant logo beach balls! Here’s a shot of Katie Cerqua (VBPL), Melissa Zibutis (OVR) and Laura Smart (Virginia Beach City Public Schools) following their case study presentation at the Transforming Local Government conference in St. Paul, Minn. Their session “Can Your Citizens Spare a Lunch Hour to Save the World?” highlighted the award-winning VB READS program which pulls together City government, the local school division, multiple non-profits, the business community, the military community, funders, several volunteer groups, and the families of struggling readers to tackle the critical issue of ensuring reading proficiency by third grade.
Coming up on its third year, the program has proven impact with student performance, community engagement and has received accolades for being a “Model Partner” with the Virginia Beach City Public Schools as well as being named the 2015-2016 Virginia State Outstanding Mentoring Program of the Year.
