Day of Caring 2019

Just wanted to thank everyone again for helping out last Friday for Day of Caring with the United Way. The day started out a little dreary but turned out to be a good one.

To all the supervisors – thank you for allowing your folks to participate. We spent our day with the Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation at a few of their properties that house disabled/homeless vets. On the agenda for the day was painting and landscaping however Mother Nature had other plans that didn’t allow for painting. We spread lots of mulch and did some planting and weeding. We also were able to see some old CVB faces as Shantese Putman and Renee Berry were with another group that also was helping out the VBCDC that day.

Way to go team CVB!! Always remember, good things happen when you give.

The misty rain that fell last Friday, Sept. 13 was not enough to deter the mighty 2019 CVB Day of Caring team from fulfilling their commitment to helping others. The team, once again led by CVB United Way lead, Diane Harrison from the Convention Center, showed up in full force and effect and helped beautify several neighborhoods in the Bayside area of the city. Staff from the Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation hosted the team this year and were thrilled to have all CVB hands on deck to lay dozens of bags of mulch around shrubs and plant flowers. Residents were pleased and several approached the team with sincere thanks. Great job, everyone!
