Money, a personal finance news and advice magazine produced by TIME, has named Virginia Beach one of 2017’s “10 Best Beaches for Your Money.”
Our coastal city was one of only five U.S. beach destinations selected this year; the other five beaches were international destinations.
To make the selections, Money weighed more than 3,500 data points for over 100 of the most popular beach destinations worldwide. They then ranked the top five U.S. and international beach cities that scored highest on overall cost factors giving the most weight to the price of airfare, lodging, and food, as well as the biggest year-over-year price drops. They also considered the number of beaches each city offered, as well as tourist activities and experience factors like low crime rates, pleasant weather, and ease of access to public transportation.
The digital version of the article includes a video with great footage of Virginia Beach as well as the four other U.S. beaches which made the list.
The Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge was included within USA Today’s (36,682,913 unique monthly visitors) “Hidden gems of the National Park System,” chosen by the U.S. Department of Interior, which proudly protects America’s great outdoors. To be listed second in this roundup is huge. This stunning photo does a beautiful job of sharing the surroundings of Back Bay. Check it out!
